Despite the fact that we dearly care for our pet birds, health or related issues may prevent us from taking good care of them. In cases such as this, adoption may seem to be the only possible solution to consider. But what if this situation is only temporary? Thanks to volunteer families in Perroquet Secours’ network, we may be able to offer you another option. Depending on the availability of our volunteers, you could benefit from our temporary help, which would prevent the useless abandonment of your birds.
The help and relief services is aimed at people experiencing exceptional emergency situations who can no longer temporarily ensure the well-being of their pet birds. This is in no way a daycare service but rather a last resort help. We talk about situations like illness; you have undergone surgery or treatments that restrict your mobility or weaken your immune system, which prevents you from maintaining your cages or forces you into prolonged hospitalization. We are also talking about events forcing you to leave your home and hastily relocate, such as in the case of a home disaster or a situation of domestic violence, for example.
This assistance could take the form of temporary accommodation with a foster family or even help at home with the maintenance of cages. Although this service is offered free of charge, a fee of 10.00$ will be required for opening a file to ensure the seriousness of the request and for the production of documents. Depending on what will be discussed, you may have to pay costs for volunteers' traveling or for the maintenance of your birds in accommodation (food, veterinary care if necessary, etc.) but, these costs will be used exclusively to reimburse the expenses incurred by this service. If your situation requires you to use our help and relief services, simply complete our form. Once your request is accepted, we will then send you the service agreement, accompanied by the payment request for opening the file.
